Another day of fun at the Tucson Gem Show!
Just have a few minutes today because I’m off soon for another day of shopping. If you’re wondering if I found anything interesting yesterday the answer is yes! Also, for those who are interested, it was over 80 degrees. And, Tucson is really beautiful.
Not so beautiful, but functional, here’s a picture of one of the registration tents. You’ll notice a trailer vehicle to move people around from the vending sites to their cars far away. I’ve walked everywhere…boy are my legs starting to feel it!
Ok, let’s get right to it. What did I find that was so interesting? Ginko leaves! Real ones. I love Ginko. Last year I only found one leaf plated in sterling. This year I found lots in copper and sterling. I love making chain lariats withthem and using coffee quartz and other earthy looking stones to compliment them. I found one more strand of top drilled faceted coffee quartz from one of my favorite vendors, Star Gems…wished they’d had more so I’ll have to look for other vendors.
Ok, quickly, this will show you the scale of things here. Another one of my favorite vendors is Lucky Gems. The difference between them and Star Gems sizewise is huge! See?
I bought more at Star Gems than Lucky Gems. They give really personal attention and are super helpful telling you about the stones so I won’t make it up when I get home.
One other super cool thing I found was a really rough strand of amethyst. And I do mean REALLY rough. If you read my last post you know that when I see something really terrible I have to have it. My first thought about this particular strand of amethyst was wow that’s really rough and what in the world would I do with it? Too bad there was only one strand. Of course it isn’t terrible. It is quite fantastic. I paid cash because I doubt it will ever end up in my business stash. More likely it will go the way of last year’s Ginko and end up in my personal jewelry collection (when I finally get time to make something for myself!).
If you’d like to see my treasures from the Tucson Gem Show stop by for artwalk at the Jet Building on February 16th (remember in Tacoma it is always the third Thursday). We’ll be there 5pm to 8pm. If that doesn’t work for you feel free to ask for a private appointment. company structures . Dilna
