Can this knot be saved? AKA Why I love the Bead Factory!
Ok, I’ll say it out loud. Jewelry repair is not my favorite thing. I’d much rather be inspired to turn upcycled items into eco-friendly jewelry or to use the most unique stones for something fabulous of my own design. But, when someone brings something to me in need of some love I will usually put it in the queue. As it is with anything in a queue, it waits its turn. Unfortunately sometimes it waits…and waits…until I feel sufficiently guilty about not getting it done.
But sometimes I’m not the best person to actually do the repair. I know my friends and customers assume I can do just about anything. This is obvious based on some of the items brought it. The most recent was a beautiful knotted pearl necklace with a broken string and therefore dislodged clasp. Figuring I would just restring the whole necklace and not having a clue where my knotting awl was hiding I took a trip to The Bead Factory. The always helpful staff was, as usual, amazing! Of course they could’ve let me purchase the items I asked for but instead they asked some questions to see if there was anything else I needed so I showed them the broken necklace. Why not open up the knot add back the pearl and buy some new “findings” to reattach the clasp? Why not indeed if only I could undo the knot! I assumed it would not be possible. Not only was it possible, the clerk undid both ends to make sure the other side wasn’t about to break too. Turned out it was but still, in about five minutes, the necklace was as good as new.
People this is excellent news! You can take your broken jewelry directly to The Bead Factory and they may be able to fix it on the spot! Not that I’m trying to turn away business, of course, but I wanted to give a huge shout out to the place where much of my money has gone over the last decade. They deserve every penny. And seriously, they also have a counter with chairs where customers may sit to repair and create their own jewelry and they give you tips and of course let you purchase any supplies you need. I hope many of you will visit them! premium domains . .
